UNBOUNDED - The Convergence of a Legacy - 46th Annual NOMA Conference

2/12/2018

Comments

The 46th Annual NOMA international Conference & Exposition will be hosted by I-NOMA on October 17th - 20th 2018 at the Palmer House Hotel in the heart of Downtown Chicago.

The conference's theme "UNBOUNDED" will explore a new “conference without walls” concept that expands traditional programs well beyond the confines of a stuffy conference hotel by leveraging nearby organizations, institutions and well known Chicago design firms to host more than ½ of the conference seminars and events.

I-NOMA will also host the 2018 BARBARA G. LAURIE NOMA ANNUAL STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION which, calls for the development of a carbon neutral mixed-used transit oriented development to be located at the 63rd Street Metra Commuter Rail Station. The proposed facility should create a node of local services connecting the adjacent communities of Woodlawn.

Stay tuned for more information about schedule and registration.

PhilaNOMA is hosting a Design conversation at Uncle Bobbie's Coffee and Books on Thursday February 22nd, 2018 at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM featuring Chris Johnson ( Project Architect) and Kia Witherspoon (Interior designer).

Dr. Marc Lamont Hill - Host of BET News , CNN Political Contributor and the Steve Charles Professor of Media, Cities, and Solutions at Temple University - opened Uncle Bobbie's Coffee and Books last Fall in the neighborhood of Germantown at the Corner of Church Lane and Germantown Avenue. According to The Temple News,  Hill named the shop after his late uncle, Bobbie Lee Hill, a World War II veteran and the person he credits with exposing him to Black literature and critical thinking. Uncle Bobbie’s is one of only a handful of Black-owned bookstores in Pennsylvania.

Come out to check out the bookstore, grab a cup of coffee, learn more about Uncle Bobbie's Coffee & Books and find out what's in store for PhilaNOMA in 2018. We are excited to unveil some of our calendar of events for 2018.
